Dredge Supply

Turnkey Supply
OCIE undertakes turnkey projects and in such cases, it is normal for the turnkey contract to include process design, engineering, construction, site erection, commissioning and training.

Construction and Transfer of Bucketline Dredges
In recent years, OCIE has been totally responsible for the construction of the following:-
A) Seven major new dredges
B) Three major international dredge transfers

A) The new dredges constructed are:-

1. Kibi Dredge (PP100/2)
This is a demountable bucket line dredge equipped with 3.5 cu ft (100 litres) buckets and digs to a maximum depth of 33 ft (10 m). The rated annual throughput is 830,000 cu m. The dredge was constructed in Malaysia and shipped to Ghana.

2. Los Lilenes D1 (PP100)
This is a 3.5 cu ft (100 litres) demountable bucketline dredge weighing 380 tonnes with a rated annual throughput of 830,000 cu m and digs to a maximum depth of 33 ft (10 m). The gold dredge was constructed in Malaysia and shipped to Ecuador. OCIE personnel erected the dredge at the mining site in Ecuador.

3. Teles Pires (PP175)
This is a 6.2 cu ft (175 litres) demountable bucketline dredge weighing 600 tonnes and digs to a maximum depth of 40 ft (12 m). The rated annual throughput is 1,600,000 cu m. The gold dredge operated. OCIE personnel erected the dredge at the mining site in Brazil.

4. Miba Dredge
This is a 6.2 cu ft (175 litres) diamond bucketline dredge weighing 1300 tonnes and capable of digging to 33 ft (10 m). The rated annual throughput is 1,600,000 cu m. This dredge was constructed in Malaysia and shipped to Zaire. The dredge was erected by OCIE personnel at the mining site at Mbujimayi, Zaire.

5. Petaling Dredge No.9
This is a 5600 tonnes bucketline dredge equipped with 24 cu ft (680 litres) buckets and digs to a depth of 130 ft (40 m). The rated annual throughput is 7,000,000 cu m. The dredge was constructed at the mining site in Malaysia.

6. Mambang Di-Awan Dredge
This is a 9 cu ft (255 litres) bucketline dredge weighing 1300 tonnes and digs to a depth of 72 ft (22 m). The rated annual throughput is 1,800,000 cu m. The dredge was constructed at the mining site in Malaysia.

7. Heinze Dredge
This is a 12 cu ft (340 litres) bucketline dredge weighing 3050 tonnes and digs to a depth of 48 ft (15 m). The dredge is fitted with on-board generating sets. The rated annual throughput is 2,700,000 cu m. The dredge was constructed in a shipyard in Singapore and the completed dredge towed to Burma. The dredge is designed to operate both in the open waters of the basin and in the tidal fringes.

B) The three recent international dredge transfer are:-

1. Petaling D7 Dredge
This is a 6000 tones bucketline dredge fitted with 24 cu ft (680 litres) buckets. The rated annual throughput is 7,000,000 cu m. The treatment plant was converted from a tin to rutile recovery plant. The dredge (ex Pet D7) was transferred from Malaysia to Sierra Leone.

2. Bemban Dredge (P T Koba Tin)
This is a 6600 tones bucketline dredge fitted with 24 cu ft (680 litres) buckets and digs to a maximum depth of 150 ft (46 m). The rated annual throughput is 7,000,000 cu m. The dredge was dismantled in Malaysia and re-erected at the mining site at Bangka Island in Indonesia.

3. Merapin Dredge (P T Koba Tin)
This is a 6100 tones bucketline dredge equipped with 24 cu ft (680 litres) buckets and digs to a maximum depth of 150 ft (46 m). The rated annual throughput is 7,000,000 cu m. The dredge was reconstructed in Malaysia and towed to Bangka Island, Indonesia.
